The National Museum of American History in Washington D.C. USA
My husband and son and I visited The National Museum of American History in November of 2022.
As always when I visit museums, I am mostly on the look out for museum quality silverware and hollowware. I did locate a handful of silver items which were actually quite interesting because they were owned or produced by African Americans in the 18th and 19th Century. I also found the famous Paul Revere revolutionary war print of "The Boston Massacre." So cool to see one of these up close.
However,
What I got the most excited about at this museum was seeing:
"The Value of Money - The National Numismatic Collection"
In their museum collection of coins, there were all the holy grails!!
1804 Silver Dollar
1913 V Nickel
$100,000 Dollar Bill
Plus, there were many other exciting coins that you just don't ever get to see anywhere.
My roots were formed in numismatics and coin collecting back in the days when my father opened the little coin shop back in 1972. It was so exciting to finally see some of these rarest of the rarest in person. Here are some photos I took:
I'm always looking for rare and museum grade silver pieces.
Drop me an email if you have anything you'd like to sell.
Please send us photos, measurements and item descriptions. Thanks, Greg Arbutine
