Kirk Repousse Sterling Silver Coffee & Tea Service sells at a record high price!

A Kirk Repousse Sterling Silver Coffee & Tea Service with a "Grand Tour" theme of the world sells at a record high price per troy ounce! It weighs 107 troy ounces and sold for $27,500.00 which equates to $257 per troy ounce. A typical set of this nature. will sell between $80-$150.00 per troy ounce on average depending on the aesthetic of the set and piece composition. This one didn't even have a hot water kettle on stand which usually makes the price go up as well.

This set has a pretty rare theme feauturing famous tourist views from around the world including: The Taj Mahal, Venice, The Colosseum in Rome, Egypt and Thailand. Apparently several interested buyers showed up the auction in person and there was a bidding frenzy which ran the price way up.

In our over 50 years of being in the silver business, we have never seen another one like it every put up for sale. This may indeed be the only one ever manufactured. The price it sold for may very well have been the true market price and not a heat of the moment auction overbid. Whoever bought it is certainly going to enjoy this gorgeous beauty!
