June - July - August This is the best time of year to purchase antique silver and other collectibles. As people go on vacation during the summer months, they are more focused on traveling. This translates into a sharply lowered demand with fewer buyers. As a result, merchants feel a cash flow pinch and are much more open to receiving lower priced offers just so that they can make ends meet. On Ebay, you can make much lower buy it now offers and often they will be accepted. At auctions, you can make minimum bids and sometimes become the winner. If you are lucky to have a lot of money during the slower summertime, then you can take advantage of the better deals.
September - October There are still some deals to be had, but often merchants are aware that the holidays are just around the corner and are less open to liquidating things cheaply as they can potentially get good money in just a few short weeks.
November - December With antique silver and collectibles, there is not typically a big black Friday or holiday sale. This is the time of year that customers for these valuables want what they want and are willing to pay a good price. Merchants know this and won't typically accept too many lower priced offers.
January - February - March -April - May Surprisingly, people still have a good amount of money after the holidays and during these months there is still a steady stream of demand for good collectibles and valuables. You can find deals during this period, but it might take more work and patience in finding a distressed seller or someone sleeping that doesn't know what the item is truly worth.
Exceptions: Super High End Collectibles that are highly coveted and sometimes pieces that are one of kinds are an exception to the above. Holy grail like objects are always in high demand no matter what time of year it is. These usually always command the money they are worth.
