Asparagus Serving Forks made of Sterling Silver

Back in the gilded era of the late 19th and early 20th Century, the manufacturers of sterling silverware would make a serving piece to suite almost any dining occasion. They produced specialized pieces for serving various entrees, side dishes, vegetables, pastas, salads, breads, fruits and desserts.

One these unusual sterling serving pieces manufactured was the Asparagus Serving Fork. Asparagus spears would be lined up in an oval vegetable bowl and the Asparagus Serving Fork would be used to scoop some of these up onto a dinner plate. Today these serving pieces are amongst the most rare and beautiful in the market place.
